Short answer: If you are spending a week or more in Hanoi around your tattoo, everything you need for daily life is within about 500 m of GOAT Tattoo Studio at 56 Trang Thi. There are 24-hour self-service laundromats about 100–200 m away, tourist SIM shops on Le Duan near the railway station, several coworking spaces and a handful of gyms. With a fresh tattoo, plan clean clothes and bedding for the first days and put the gym on hold for a while.

For the first week, a fresh tattoo touches your clothes and sheets all day and night. Clean, soft, loose fabric helps it heal. Hanoi has two kinds of laundry: self-service laundromats and drop-off shops that wash, dry and fold by weight.

Planning a longer stay around your tattoo

• Book the tattoo early in your stay so the first, most delicate days of healing happen while you are still near the studio.
