Hong Kong is consistently ranked among the most expensive cities in the world for rent and everyday costs, and studio space and artist rates reflect that directly — a piece of comparable size and skill level genuinely costs more there, and that gap is about real estate and wages, not a difference in craftsmanship.
• Hong Kong’s extreme scarcity of physical space shapes how its studios operate. Retail and studio space is famously limited and expensive in Hong Kong, so many studios run small, appointment-only setups rather than larger walk-in-friendly shops.
